The history of Blackjack
Where does the Blackjack come from? It is known that the game has its origin in French casinos, as chemin de fer a French Ferme.
Blackjack has been played in French casinos since 1700 and it has been known since the 18th century in the USA.
In the first half of the 20th century the Blackjack pioneers started to use calculators, to reduce the advantages of casinos, which was legal that time.
The rules of blackjack changed over the last years to improve the chances of casinos.
They put into several technologies, as machines to shuffle the cards, multiplied packets of cards, which had to eliminate the chances of those, who had followed and count the packets.
These measures together with the fact the instructions are not possible to learn perfectly brought the advantages back into casinos.
Edward O. Thorp adjusted the basic strategy of the Blackjack in 1962 and found out the theory the first counting technology without using calculator.
The casinos did not like this book and they lost their profits because it referred to public how to beat the casinos.
They wanted to change the rules of the Blackjack to make the win more difficult.
This did not last long, because the people protested against the new rules.
The loss of the profits made the casinos to change back to the previous rules.
How to play Blackjack, the rules
Each card with number (2-10) determines its number. The other cards (J Jack, Q Quena and K King) determine the 10.
A Ace is a special card in the game and it may determine all numbers from 1 up to 11 (according to what is better for the player).
Every player gets two cards and he is offered more cards later. He decides whether he takes the card or not.
The basic principle is to have the sum of the numbers nearer to 21 than the crupier but not more.
The one who is the nearest to 21 is the winner. The one who has more than 21 loses. The colours here are not important.
If the A Ace card determines the number 11, the sum is called hard. Otherwise if the A Ace card determines 1 the sum is called soft.
For more players with crupier is the basic goal to get higher summary as the crupier gets.
If the player’s summary is more than 21 as well as the crupiers, the player will lose.
If the summary of both is the same, nobody will win. Each player plays against crupier individually.
It is also possible that the crupier wins against some players or loses with others within the same game.
